Cusco

Cusco is the most important touristic destination of Peru. It's known by the Incas as "The home of the gods". The city was once the capital of one of the greatest empires of the history: the Tawantinsuyo. Its name in Quechua (indian language) means "the navel of the world". The whole city is an open museum and the Sacred Valley is a complex of Incan ruins. Cusco is the start point for those who want to go to Machu Picchu, either by taking the trekkings or going up by train to Aguas Calientes and then to the ruins. Besides the touristic activities, Cusco is also known by the great discos and pubs. The Holy Week celebration is amazing for its colours, sounds and meanings!
